Olive oil
The Agricultural Olive Cooperative of Sterna was founded in 1985 and has 200 members. It produces 1,000 tons of olive oil annually and has one of the most modern olive oil production and standardization facilities in the area. The primary goal of the cooperative is the equal cooperation and mutual assistance of its member partners and the contribution to their economic, social and cultural development through a democratically run company. Looking to the future, the cooperative utilizes the deep knowledge, the great experience and the creativity of its members and executives, in the effort to constantly offer new products with a focus on quality and tradition.
The olives of the area offer an olive oil of exceptional quality. The olives must be pressed – and are pressed – in a way that does not degrade this quality at all. For this, a modern centrifugal-type olive mill has been created, which guarantees the best hygiene conditions and has the automations for continuous and effective control of the temperature and the time of oiling. In the effort towards the best possible quality result, the daily oiling practices are meticulously applied, even for small quantities, and transfers are carried in crates or linen bags that allow the olives to “breathe”.
