Informational events by “Little Treasures of Europe” in Athens and Thessaloniki

Over the course of the three-year program, “Little Treasures from Europe”, by NEA PASEGES (Greek Confederation of Unions of Agricultural Cooperatives) aimed to promote Greek PDO & PGI co-op products, as well as raise awareness for the concept of co-ops. Three events were thus organised in Athens and Thessaloniki.

More specifically, on the 4th of April 2023, the PDO & PGI products of Greek co-ops that participated in the “Little Treasures of Europe” program by NEA PASEGES, were presented in the Omicron I Room of the Athenaum Intercontinental Hotel, which was filled with journalists. At the press conference, nutritionists, journalists, and food bloggers were invited to be informed of the program’s goals and be made aware of the concept of co-ops.

The speakers of the event were Mr. Pavlos Satolias, President of NEA PASEGES, Mr. Stelios Drys, President of the executive agency Foodstandard, Mr. Panagiotis Kemalis, nutritionist, and Ms Aikaterini Kaplani, MSc agronomist at Novacert.

After the press conference, there was a dinner provided at the hotel restaurant, Zoe, for a tasting of the products that are participating in the program.

The second event took place on the 26th of April 2023, in the room Dock Six I of the Porto Palace Hotel, in Thessaloniki, where famous bloggers, journalists and professionals of the food industry were informed of the benefits of NEA PASEGES’S program and the PDO & PGI products. The speakers at the event were Mr. Pavlos Satolias, President of NEA PASEGES, Mr. Dimitrios Kapounis, President of EAS Naxou, Ms. Elina Vidali, project manager & quality assurance expert at Foodstandard, Ms. Aikaterini Kaplani, MSc agronomist at Novacert, and Ms. Eirini Topaloudi, nutritionist.

After the press conference, there was a dinner provided at the hotel restaurant. The menu was designed around the 16 PDO & PGI products that are participating in the program.

The third event took place on the 15th of May 2023, in the Zephyros Room of the Met Hotel in Thessaloniki, and it included a dinner at the hotel restaurant Avenue 48.

The event was attended by acclaimed professionals of the food industry, journalists, bloggers, and influencers. The aim was to inform them of the PDO & PGI products that are participating in the program, as well as help them understand more about the concept of co-ops, which is promoted by NEA PASEGES through the program. At the event, the members of the co-ops proudly spoke about the traditional ways of production of high-quality products that honour Greece’s gastronomical legacy. They also talked about the nutritional value of each and every one of them, as well as the unique touches they can add to our everyday meals.

The participation was high and the impressions of the attendees about the PDO & PGI products, as well as NEA PASEGES’S program altogether, were particularly positive.
